K\ONCEPTS (Kodu Concepts) is Spencer's hobby label for games, tools and hardware. This page explains what this website, Kodu ID and the K\ONCEPTS games store about you, why, and how to see or delete it. Nothing here is sold or used for advertising.
This website
koduconcepts.dev has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It sets cookies only on the Kodu ID pages, and only when you sign in (see below). The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which handles your connection and, like any host, sees your IP address while it does.
Kodu ID
Kodu ID is the optional account for K\ONCEPTS games. You sign in with Discord. Kodu ID asks Discord only for your user id and name: no email address and no password. Every game can be played as a guest without one.
When you have a Kodu ID, it stores:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| A random account id | To tell accounts apart. It is not shown to other players. |
| Your Discord user id and name | So signing in with Discord finds your account again. The name is shown only to you. |
| One saved profile per game | Your in-game name, record, stats, decks and settings, so they follow you to other devices. |
| Your signed-in devices | A device name, platform, app version, when it signed in and when it was last used (updated at most hourly), so you can see them and sign them out. The sign-in token itself is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form. |
| Sign-ins in progress | For up to 10 minutes while you sign in, then removed. |
Cookies. Signing in on this website sets two cookies, used only by the Kodu ID pages: kodu_signin for the ten minutes a sign-in takes, and kodu_session, which keeps you signed in for up to 30 days or until you sign out. Neither is used for tracking.
Your IP address is not stored with your account. It is counted for up to an hour to limit how often sign-ins can be attempted, which protects accounts from abuse.
Problem reports
The games have a "Report a problem" form. It is only sent if you press Send. A report contains what you write, the game's version, your operating system and language, the decks and turn of the game in progress, and (unless you untick it) the game's log and a screenshot of the game. It includes your in-game name unless you choose to send it anonymously.
The report becomes an issue in the project's issue tracker on GitHub so it can be fixed; the screenshot is kept for 30 days. Please don't put personal information in a report.
Playing online
Friend rooms connect two players through a relay server. The relay passes your game's moves to the other player and keeps them only while the room exists (at most 12 hours). It does not need or store your account.
Server logs
The relay server writes short log lines when a room is created, a report is sent or an account is used. The room and report lines include the IP address they came from; account lines name the account and device ids, never a token. Cloudflare keeps these logs for a limited time, and they are used only to keep the service running and fix problems.
Updates
The games check GitHub for new versions and download them from there. GitHub sees your IP address when they do.
Who handles your data
- Cloudflare hosts this website, the relay and the Kodu ID database (in North America).
- Discord handles signing in. What Discord itself keeps is covered by Discord's privacy policy.
- GitHub holds problem reports and serves game downloads and updates.
Links to YouTube, X and Ko-fi go to those services, which have their own policies.
Seeing and deleting your data
On the Kodu ID page you can see your account and devices, sign any device out, download everything stored about you as a file, and delete your Kodu ID. Deleting removes the account, its devices and every game's saved profile at once. Data saved on your own device stays there until you remove the game.
For anything else, including a problem report you want taken down, email kodu.concepts@gmail.com.
Children
Kodu ID uses Discord to sign in, and Discord requires its users to be at least 13 (older in some countries). Kodu ID is not meant for anyone younger. Guest play needs no account.
Changes
If what is stored changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves.
